Standing with Drought-Affected Families in Somalia

Standing with Drought-Affected Families in Somalia

The impact of the ongoing drought in Somalia continues to worsen, forcing thousands of pastoralist and farming families to flee their homes in search of food, water, and safety.

Recent humanitarian reports indicate that more than 4.4 million people are facing acute food insecurity, while 1.85 million children are at risk of malnutrition due to consecutive failed rainy seasons. The prolonged drought has resulted in widespread livestock losses, crop failure, and severe water shortages, destroying livelihoods and pushing vulnerable families into displacement camps on the outskirts of Mogadishu.

In response to this growing emergency, and with the generous support of Sheikh Abdullah Al-Nouri Charity, we provided urgent food assistance to newly displaced families. Essential food items were distributed to help meet immediate needs and ease the daily struggle for survival faced by affected households.

While this intervention offers short-term relief, the humanitarian situation remains critical. Many families continue to rely on aid to survive, and the risk of malnutrition and disease remains high, especially among children and pregnant women.

Sustained humanitarian assistance and collective action are urgently needed to save lives, protect dignity, and support communities in rebuilding their resilience against future shocks.

Together, we can stand with those most affected and bring hope to families facing the harsh realities of drought.
