Bringing Essential Health Services to Somalia’s Most Underserved Communities

Bringing Essential Health Services to Somalia’s Most Underserved Communities

In response to persistent routine immunization challenges, the ZamZam Foundation (ZZF), in partnership with the CORE Group Partners Project (CGPP)) and with support from the Gates Foundation is implementing the Far-Reaching Integrated Delivery (FARID) Project.

Our team recently conducted outreach health services at Goof PHU, Elwak District, delivering immunization, maternal and child health care, nutrition services, general medical care, and community surveillance activities.

This initiative reflects our commitment to reach the unreachable, ensuring that every mother and child has access to essential health care and the opportunity for a healthier future.

ZZF focuses on five districts of Hagar, Jamame, Elwak, Luuq, and Bardhere where routine immunization coverage remains low due to insecurity, population displacement, and limited health infrastructure.

To address these challenges, the FARID Project implemented an innovative “Health Camp” model, designed to overcome social, structural, and gender-based barriers that limit access to essential health services, the FARID project has now transitioned to more sustainable fixed site health delivery and targeted outreach services to villages linked to the fixed sites.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to our donors, partners, and the ministry of health at all levels from Districts to the federal level and frontline health workers, community leaders, and mobilizers, whose dedication makes it possible to protect children and families in Somalia’s most underserved districts.

Together, we are bringing health closer to every family.
