Providing Water and Strengthening Livelihoods and Hope in Arabsiyo
Arabsiyo, Somaliland — Zamzam Foundation, with the support of Kaaf Humanitarian, has completed a solar-powered borehole and a livestock water trough, providing a vital source of water and support to approximately 8,000 people and their livestock.
For years, farmers and community members in Arabsiyo have faced severe water shortages, often having to purchase and transport water from distant locations to meet their daily needs and protect their crops. Today, reliable access to water is making a meaningful difference in the lives and livelihoods of the community.

With water now available closer to the community, farmers can irrigate and maintain their farms more easily, reducing the cost and burden of transporting water from distant areas. One of the beneficiaries is also cultivating a 10-hectare farm, demonstrating how improved access to water can create new opportunities to increase agricultural production and strengthen food security.
The impact of this initiative goes beyond providing water. It is helping to strengthen livelihoods, improve food security, support livestock, and enhance communities’ resilience to drought.
