Ramadan is a time of reflection, compassion, and generosity, bringing people together in kindness and unity.
our organization embarked on a mission to alleviate the struggles faced by families in Somalia and Kenya during this sacred month. As we look back on Ramadan 2024, let’s delve into the impact we made in various locations and the challenges our brothers and sisters encountered, from hunger to environmental crises.
Our Ramadan distributions reached far and wide, spanning across regions in Somalia such as Banadir, Hirshabele, Southwest of Somalia, Galmudug, and Somaliland. Additionally, we extended our support to communities in Kenya, recognizing the universal need for assistance during this holy month. These diverse locations represent the breadth of our reach and the inclusivity of our efforts to serve those in need.
In these regions, families grapple with multifaceted challenges, exacerbating their hardships during Ramadan. Hunger persists as a prevalent issue, with many households struggling to secure adequate nourishment for themselves and their children. Moreover, the recurring cycles of drought and flooding add layers of complexity to their predicament, disrupting livelihoods and exacerbating food insecurity. In the face of such adversities, our mission was not only to provide immediate relief but also to offer sustainable solutions that empower communities to withstand future crises.
Distributed Ramadan 2024 Food Packs:
In response to the pressing need for nourishment, we distributed food packs to families across Somalia and Kenya. These packs contained essential staples to sustain individuals throughout the month, ensuring that no one went to bed hungry during Ramadan. Our efforts aimed to alleviate the immediate effects of hunger while addressing the root causes through sustainable interventions.
Recognizing the significance of breaking the fast with a warm and hearty meal, we provided over 54,450 hot meals throughout Ramadan. These meals not only provided sustenance but also imbued recipients with a sense of comfort and dignity during a challenging time. Whether it was a bowl of nutritious soup or a hearty stew, each meal symbolized our commitment to standing in solidarity with those in need.
As Eid al-Fitr approached, we sought to spread joy and happiness among families by distributing 1,350 Eid clothes. These garments not only adorned individuals with dignity but also symbolized a renewed sense of hope and belonging. By ensuring that everyone could partake in the festivities, we reinforced the bonds of community and solidarity that define Ramadan.
Zakat holds profound significance during Ramadan, serving as a pillar of compassion and social justice. This year, we distributed 1,855 zakat packages, comprising both cash and food essentials, to empower individuals and families in need. By providing them with the means to meet their basic needs, we enabled them to celebrate Ramadan with dignity and grace, embodying the true spirit of the holy month.
In a gesture of solidarity and togetherness, we distributed raw meat to 54,450 vulnerable families. This initiative not only provided essential nutrition but also symbolized the collective spirit of giving that defines Ramadan. By sharing in the blessings of the season, we strengthened the bonds within our communities and spread love and compassion to those who need it most.
As we reflect on Ramadan 2024, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to all those who contributed to the success of our programs. Your support and dedication have made a tangible difference in the lives of countless individuals and families across Somalia and Kenya. Together, we have exemplified the true essence of Ramadan – compassion, generosity, and solidarity. As we move forward, let us carry these values in our hearts and continue to strive for a world where no one is left behind.
Eid Mubarak!
