Arafat Hospital

The Zamzam Foundation, responding to the increasingly deteriorating health care system of the country after the collapse of the Somali central government in 1991, sought the help and collaboration of INGOs, local volunteers and the Somali medical professionals to address the dire community need for hospitals, clinics and health care centers in the country.

The Zamzam Foundation has succeeded to establish and operate the Arafat Hospital, an inpatient – outpatient hospital in Mogadishu, Somalia. The Hospital has specialist departments, with capacity of over 80 beds, temporary accommodation in the emergency department and a maternal and childbirth section (MCH). Arafat Hospital benefits and provides health care services to well over 126,000 visitors each.
